life
for BJ, 'in memory of GvH'
a cheerful event
experiencing the look
of new born life
holding a baby in your hands
looking in those tiny eyes
feeling warmth and happy emotion
feeling almost daddy yourself
a cheerful event
witnessing the love between two
two people only one moment away
from being united officially
overflooded with emotions
you, them, everybody
feeling warmth and happiness
an event related to new life
life's rude
a sad event
you are yanked back to your feet
obligated to realise that life
is full of contrast
death's close
knowing that it always sneeks in
through the backdoor
striking unexpectedly
striking without mercy
death's looking
to take over the place
as father and husband
is there a choice?
life's full of false hope
thinking you conquered death
making new plans
building up a new life
then noticing that you forgot to lock that backdoor
and get death stuffed back into your face
death won't let itself be conquered that easily
full of contrast
a moment of tremendous joy
followed by an intense moment of fright
new life confronted with a life's ending
life offers perspective, though
never in eternity conquered death
over the Soul
lifetime after lifetime
the Soul sneeked up
through that same backdoor
striking unexpectedly
striking without mercy
leaving death not the slightest chance
yet mankind doesn't know
how to cope with contrast
mankind fight an unfair battle
when will we learn?
be a friend
but what's there to do?
be there?
what if...
if only I could...
... take over ...
