January 2005
I watched "Extreme make-over" yesterday on tv.
At first I thought that it's really great that people would like to help other people that don't feel good about themselves. That they would organize a show like that, just to help people.
Naive thought, isn't it? I mean: you get nothing for nothing anymore these days, so I'm sure there's a bunch of people who are getting something out of it.
But when I thought of it a bit further, I came to the conclusion that it's actually a morally disgusting thing, that show.
The organisation of that show searches for people who are ugly, fat, not good-looking, or whatever, who feel bad and look bad.
Now you can say that it's a noble thing that they want to help those people, but what they really do when they invite or accept those people to the show, is CONFIRM to those people that they are ugly or fat or whatever.
Isn't that cruel?
To basically tell people in their face to come to the show because they need a make-over?
I know, I know... In the end everyone's getting better with it, but JUST that moral thought...
Just that moral thought...
