May 2003

Since I'm not living in Holland anymore I have fallen into this habit of listening to Dutch radio stations through the internet.
I tend to see myself as a music-lover, but today I got so endlessly annoyed by music that I had to write my complaints down into this little piece of text.
Let me emphasize that the following is my own personal opinion and that of course every one is free to do as they please. And let me also emphasize that what I mention below here doesn't in any way affect the quality of the contents of the sites that I visited...

So... I was listening to my favorite station, 3fm, while I was surfing on the net, visiting a number of interesting poetry sites. I think I visited some fifteen or so and at least ten of them had a raped version of a song that I very much like.
And while I was listening to the internet radio, that music started playing synchronically in perfect disharmony with the music that I was listening to via internet radio.
And what I heard over and over again was this canned sound coming from my speakers. This... this... sorry excuse for a replica of a very good song or piece of music. Every single one of them. And the worst part of it all was that, except for one, none of the sites had a little sound panel with which you could switch the noise off. Utterly TERRIBLE!
I'm sure someone has been very creative in fixing those tunes, but it sounded awful.
Those horrors on a website should be banned and prohibited by law! I mean... All of the sites that I ran across looked pretty and very nice, but the moment I enter a site and some artificial noise approaches me from out of a tunnel and there's no way I can stop that noise from approaching me, I close the site as quickly as possible.
No offense to anyone, but it's just how I feel...
