February 2003

The world is on the verge of another big war.
And if it was for George Bush to decide the war would have been started a month ago already. Or two months. He doesn't seem to care about what other people think. He cares only about what other people think if they think the same thing he thinks. Like Tony Blair. He doesn't care about the opinion of the majority of his people. Nor does Tony Blair.
And what for? In my humble opinion this looks more like a two-men's crusade than a justified attitude.
Don't get me wrong. I don't approve of Saddam Hussein's attitude, he's not being all that much of a role-model either, but wasn't it so — especially in our Western civilization — that you are innocent until proven guilty? And then I mean with plain and clear evidence and not with circumstantial?
And what about all those people who try to prevent a war and do the best in their power to find a solution for this without having to wipe up a pile of dead bodies along the way? Doesn't that count for something?
I understand... George Bush is trying to finish up what his dad couldn't manage in his term. I wouldn't at all be surprised if his dad gave him some advice here and there. But what does Tony Blair gain from this charade? He's sofar up Bush's ass that you can't see where Bush ends and Blair starts. The same with the Dutch government, who were so helpful and eager to already put their defense utilities in Turkey, even when the main NATO countries decided that they wanted to wait for the weapon inspectors.
In the end there will be two losers, no matter how you put it.
Saddam Hussein is so naive to think that he can take up a war against the whole world and come out a winner. And George Bush and Tony Blair (and who else?) think that they can just run over Saddam Hussein, underestimating him big time.
And really... What kind of standards does George Bush keep, when he doesn't allow Saddam Hussein to have any specific weapons, but everything in North Korea seems to be fine and dandy? Or is it so that he's going to finish up Irak first and then start the same thing all over again in North Korea?
And where does it all lead to?
Insecurity in the world... No one feels safe anymore. Everyone is looking over their shoulders, because there's a threat of attacks looming everywhere.
Economy is going worse and worse with that insecurity... People are losing their jobs, companies are losing work.
So what are we doing it for eventually? To satisfy people who so desperately want to see their names in the history books?

Pathetic...
